RAE and UT Quality Complete Subsea Tieback Work in the Penn State Deep (DSP) Field in the GOM

Overview

In June of 2017, RAE was awarded a contract from McDermott to jointly provide subsea tieback work in the Penn State Deep (PSD) field in the Gulf of Mexico for a major oil and gas exploration company. Penn State Deep 6 has been developed as a subsea tieback to the Baldpate facility.

The 5,189 foot, 8.625-inch-OD flowline system was fabricated onshore at the McDermott Gulfport Spoolbase and then reeled on its North Ocean 105 lay vessel to be completed and installed to a water depth of about 1,650 feet.

RAE was responsible for providing full-service project management of the flowline and tie-in system, extending to spoolbase pipe fabrication and handling, and offshore services, including NDT and FJC of the flowline and welding of the tie-in PLET structure aboard the lay vessel.

The project was completed and online by March of 2018.
